How points are counted

Every point from both race drivers counts, including sprint points and fastest lap bonuses. Reserve drivers only score for the team if they substitute in a counted session under the entry that earns points.

Why teams prioritise the constructors' title

Manufacturers treat the teams' championship as proof of engineering excellence. Financial distribution within the sport also references constructor standings, so team principals push both drivers to score even when the drivers' title is out of reach.
